Elton John has expressed his support for Kate Garraway following the news that her husband Derek Draper died on Friday aged 56.
Kate, a mother of two with Derek, a former political adviser, shared the heartbreaking revelation that her husband died of a heart attack just before Christmas, ending his long battle with Covid.
The Rocket Man hitmaker wrote on his Instagram story: “My heart goes out to Kate, Darcy, William and the whole family following Derek's death. David, the kids and I are thinking of you and sending all our love.”
He also wrote in Kate's original announcement, sweetly writing: "I'm so sorry to hear the news, Kate. Love and thoughts to you and your family x'.
In April, Kate, Derek and their children attended an Elton John concert at the O2 Arena.
During the show, the 76-year-old singer dedicated a song to her family. Kate said organizing the event took months of planning due to Derek's serious condition at the time.
Kate shared the news of Derek's death on Instagram, saying she held his hand as he died on Wednesday evening in a north London hospital.
Derek has had health issues since contracting COVID-19 in 2020 and suffering a heart attack in December. Kate spent Christmas in hospital due to health problems.
