Johnny Depp admits Al Pacino persuaded him to direct 'Modi'

Johnny Depp recently admitted that it was Al Pacino who asked him to take over management.

In a statement via Variety, Depp, who is currently directing his upcoming Modi biopic, revealed that it was Pacino who encouraged him to join the project.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star said, “It has been an incredibly rewarding and transformative experience for Modi to embark on this cinematic journey as a director.

For the uninitiated, this is Depp's first film to direct since 1997's The Brave, in which he starred alongside Marlon Brando.

Depp added: "I want to express my deepest gratitude to the entire cast, crew and producers for their unwavering commitment and creativity."

“Allah, who asked me to do this film – how could I say no to Pacino? Sincere appreciation for generously bringing his talent and dedication to this project,” said the Finding Neverland actor.

Depp added: "Modi is a testament to the collaborative spirit of independent cinema and I am delighted to bring this unique and compelling story to the world."

According to a press release, Modi will follow the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, "through a 48-hour maze capturing a chaotic series of events from the streets and bars of war-torn Paris in the world of World War I".

“Modi's desire to run away from the police and end his career and leave the city was rejected by his fellow bohemians. Chaos reaches a climax when he encounters a collector who could change his life. »

Meanwhile, Modi is Depp's first project since appearing in Jean du Barry last year.
