Taylor Swift's circle of friends recently criticized an opinion piece by The New York Times that speculated about her sexuality.
The publication previously stated that the singer is a close member of the LGBTQIA+ community, often referring to himself as a "straight ally" of the community.
An associate of Taylor spoke to CNN and said, "Because of her enormous success, there is a Taylor-shaped hole in people's ethics at this point."
"This article should not have been about Shawn Mendes or any male artist whose sexuality has been questioned by fans," added an ally of the singer.
Another insider, who asked to remain anonymous, also posted "invasive, inaccurate and inappropriate" statements about the singer.
Taylor started hanging out with her friends to stop talking about who she was dating at the time.

"And so, I swore I stayed with the boys. Taylor said, "I swore off the relationship and decided to focus only on myself, my music, my growth and my female friendships."
He added: "If I was going out with my friends, wouldn't people be able to sensationalize it or sexualize it? Later I would learn that people could and people would do it."
Meanwhile, Taylor is currently dating NFL star Travis Kelce, who she first met in the summer of 2023.
